ABOUT ABOUT

Screen Print Pro

Date: July 15, 2017
Time: 10:00am-4:00pm
Cost: $95 includes lunch. You provide fabric items (See below)
Class: Size: 6
Age: 18 and up. 14 to 17 with an Adult.

This one day workshop will cover the basics of screenprinting on t-shirts or other fabric items. We'll cover art, film prep, screens, mesh, emulsion, squeegees, inks, exposure, registration and the different process for printing on light or dark colored fabrics - pretty much everything you need to know to get up and printing. The morning session starts with some of the basics and demonstrations. Then we'll continue by preparing your art, exposing screens during lunch and spend the afternoon printing. This will be very hands-on every step of the way.

How Many Items?
We will print on 8 - 10 fabric items that you will need to provide.

How Many Colors?
You will be printing the same 1 color on all your items. Bring all white or lighter colored fabrics for the best results and ink color selection. We will show you how to register a 2-color job and also discuss the particulars printing light inks on dark fabrics.

Types of Items:
T-shirts, tote bags, pillow cases, tea towels, pullover hoodies, etc. No items such as thick towels, heavily textured materials or items with pockets and zippers, please. You can purchase blank T's from Michaels and AC Moore or bring items from home. You can also setup an account with online retailers like shirtspace.com. Don't be afraid to bring old shirts and items with printing on them as well. The results could be really cool!

Art:
If you want to set up your art beforehand and work in Illustrator, or Photoshop each color needs to be on a separate layer. Line art works best, but feel free to design something with type and mixed line drawings or solids. Please do not use photographs or full-color illustrations as your art needs to be a high-contrast B&W that is free of tonal ranges, gradients, etc.

Email your file by Thursday the week of the workshop: For vector artwork, send us a .ai or .eps file, and if bitmap a jpeg or pdf -300dpi and no bigger than 10x13 inches. Please also bring it with you on a USB drive just in case. Remember to outline any fonts - we are Mac based, using the Creative Cloud.

For those that do not send in art, we have some fun images here you can use (1800s-1950s) that are good for learning the process.

What to Wear:
Screen printing can be a bit messy and we have aprons for you to wear, so dress comfortably and in some older clothes that you are willing to get inky.

Lunch:
We'll order pizzas so don't worry if you are a veggie or carnivore - we'll order a variety to meet different tastes. For those unable to eat pizza, please bring a lunch to keep your muscles going! We'll also have soda/water to keep you well hydrated.

End time:
We're usually done by 4:00pm - but don't worry - we're also not kicking anyone out so if it's taking you a bit longer - don't panic. Fun has no time limit!

Cancellation Policy:
As registration is limited, this is first come, first serve. Cancellations with less than one weeks notice are non-refundable, but may be credited towards items in our shop. Cancellations with more than one weeks notice have the option of a refund or moving to a future workshop.

Availability:
All-Day Workshops are held on Saturdays. Team-Building and Work Events are held during the week.
